Making a Scoubidou involves the knotting of plastic tubes. The scoubidous are supple, round, hollow plastic tubes of approximately 80 centimeters in length.
They are sold in various colours, sizes and types. The tubes can be used to make various items by binding them together with special knots.
Young and old make key chains, friendship bands and other trinkets. Scoubidou originates in France, where it was already a rage in the 1960s.
The creations possible with Scoubidou are similar in many ways to traditional Corn dollys. Scoubidous are also know as Bondoogle in the USA

Scoubidou Friendship Bracelet
You will need : 4 Scoubidou strands and 2 / 3 x pony beads. Scoubidou bracelets and jewellery are easy to make and they can be as simple or as complicated as you choose. You can make a lacy looking effect by pulling the knots very loosely. Start by taking your 4 strands and tying a loose knot. (You will need to unpick it when finished the other end.) Continue with any stitch. Continue until you have about 4 cm of strands left. Make sure that you pull your last stitch very tightly. Carefully unpick your knot from the beginning. Go back to the first stitch and make sure it is pulled tightly.
Thread two strands from each end through one pony bead. (You should have 4 strands through the hole - if this is too difficult, thread two strands from one side and one from the other. If you do this you will need to use 3 beads). Using two strands tie a knot. Take the remaining two strands and tie another knot - it will probably be over the top of the last one. Repeat this last stage for the other 4 strands. Remember if you only threaded 3 strands through the bead, you must do the same on each side. Make sure though that this time you thread 2 strands from the side where only 1 was threaded last time - this keeps the bracelet even. Trim the ends (preferably the next day because they have had time to 'set').
